Europe Week 2025 activities in the Municipalities supported by EU4GG

EU: A Space to be – reaching out to the people in the Albanian Municipalities

Shkoder – European Spring School – 26 May 2025

The European Spring School, under the coordination of the Director of EU Integration unit of the Municipality of Shkoder, Stella Mardusha, took place on 26-30 May. It offered the school’s participants the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the EU, its institutions, policies and programmes. This year special importance is given to the topics of culture and European integration: how does culture help build a common European identity and how can young people in the Municipality of Shkoder contribute to building this European identity.
The Municipality of Shkoder is encouraging the participation of youth in the democratic processes of the Municipality and in the ongoing EU integration process.
The EU4GG project together with the Agency for Support to Local Self-Government took part in the kick-off of the 2025 European Spring School on 26th of May 2025. More than 30 participants from the school discussed the history, main achievements, institutions, policies and core values of the European Union as well as the main milestones of Albania’s EU integration process and what this new step means for them and their future.

Përmet – “EU Jeopardy Game” & “A Space in the EU” – 27 & 28 May 2025

The Municipality of Përmet, under the coordination of the Municipality’s Director of EU Integration Unit Klaudja Ciko, organised a series of activities for students at 2 local schools on the theme of the EU and Albania’s place in the European family.

“EU Jeopardy Game”

The first activity consisted in the organization of a competition called “EU Jeopardy game” where two teams of school children competed with one another by answering questions related to the history and the institutions of the EU, as well as Albania’s progress toward EU integration. The winning team received a cup as a reward for their good work, and the other team received medals.

“A Space in the EU”

The second activity under the title “A space in the EU” consisted in various activities around artistic themes such as exhibition, dance, painting, culinary, handicrafts, tourist guide, theatre, music, sports, literary creativity, handmade art on the topic of Europe. Young artists promoted their work in the main city square.
The EU4GG project, together with the Agency for Support to Local Self-Government, took part in the activity and contributed to the discussions on Europe organised by the Municipality for the schoolchildren.
