The EU for Good Governance project brought together mayors and representatives of state institutions related to local government to discuss strengthening the role of municipalities on Albania’s path toward the EU.
“Building strong local governments with adequate capacities is a key part of public administration reform. The dialogue between the central and local levels needs to be inclusive, transparent, and fully functional. The EU will continue to support local authorities through the new €11 million EU4Municipalities project, starting in January 2026. Together, we want to ensure that EU accession and membership work for every Albanian, wherever they live,” said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.
