60 representatives from 20 Central Albanian Municipalities gathered in Berat on 30 January 2026 to introduce the Toolkit for Public Participation in local decision-making, and to discuss ways to strengthen participatory democracy by involving the citizens in the local decision-making process in line with the priorities of EU integration.
The ensuing dialogue focused on the role of the local governments in communicating the EU priorities of democracy and transparency to the local communities, and the positive outcomes this generates for all sides.
The Berat workshop was organised by the EU4GG project in close coordination with the Agency for Support to Local Government (ASLG) and was attended by the Ervin Ceca, the Mayor of Berat, Marie Augouy, Programme Manager for Local Government at the EU Delegation to Albania, and Adelina Farrici, Executive Director of the National Association of Municipalities of Albania (NAMA).
