Pustec – Opening of the European Rose Garden and planting of roses by local school children – 29 May 2025
The children of the “Dy Dëshmorët” united school of Pustec, together with the Mayor Pali Kolefski, the specialists of the EU Integration Unit of the Municipality, Andoneta Jankulla and Elona Ballauri, and the local community opened a special space to dedicated to the EU in the school yard, the “Park of Roses of Europe”. According to the Mayor this space represents the European family and Albania’s commitment to becoming part of the European Union.
The school children planted 28 rooted roses in the schoolyard, 27 for each EU member state and one representing Albania, as a candidate country on the path to accession. Each rose received a metal plaque with the name of the respective EU country. A large plaque with the EU and EU4GG logos indicating the name of the park was placed at the entrance of the garden. Other activities on this day included discussions on the role of young people in Albania’s EU integration process, decorating the school premises with thematic banners, EU and Albanian flags and balloons.
The EU4GG project together with the Agency for Support to Local Self-Government took part in the event.
Vau Dejës – Painting a mural “A space for Europe” – 27-30 May 2025
This activity is the result of cooperation between the Municipality, professional artists, school children and local youth, and focused on creating a large mural in a public space conveying a message of European values through contemporary art. The goal of the activity was to create a work that illustrates the connection between local tradition and the European spirit of coexistence, sustainable development, and a common future. It includes elements such as:
– Symbols of the cultural heritage of Vau Dejë
– The stars of the EU flag mixed with Albanian motifs
– Human figures in motion representing cooperation, diversity and the future
– Slogans such as: “Together we build Europe”, “Our future, in the colours of unity.”
Dibër – “In the heart of Europe” – 30 May 2025
The students of the “Myslim Shehu” high school organized a fair featuring an exhibition of handicraft and agricultural products called “Made in Dibër”. It also included a workshop for young people and children called “EU and me” related to various European themes, as well as an information point on the EU and its youth programmes.
