EU Directive on Anticorruption and its Impact on Rule of Law Reforms in Albania

On 24 June 2026, the EU for Good Governance (EU4GG) project organised a high-level conference in Tirana on “The EU Directive on Anticorruption and its Impact on Rule of Law Reforms in Albania.” The event brought together representatives of Albanian institutions, the European Union, civil society, media, and international experts to discuss how the new EU Anti-Corruption Directive can support Albania’s reform and EU integration agenda.

Opening remarks were delivered by Fotjona Taçe, Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, and André Rizzo, Chargé d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to Albania. A keynote address by Kristina Jankovich, Head of Sector for Integrity and Anti-Corruption at DG JUST, highlighted the Directive’s relevance for candidate countries.

The conference focused on two key pillars of corruption prevention: sector-specific corruption risk assessments and strengthening whistleblower protection. Participants exchanged experiences and good practices from Albania and EU Member States, identifying concrete steps to further strengthen integrity, accountability, and transparency in public administration.

The event reaffirmed the EU’s continued support for Albania’s rule of law reforms and efforts to align with European standards in the fight against corruption.
